Put anything behind you
Once the AI separates you from your room, Background Eraser can fill the background with five kinds of content: solid colors, your own images, looping background videos, a blurred version of your real room, or one of 8 studio presets — and you can switch between them with the result previewed live.
Solid colors
Any color you pick — brand colors, pure white for clean tutorials, black for drama.
Your own images
Drop in any photo: your office, a set, a branded backdrop, a beach.
Looping video backgrounds
Import a video clip and it loops seamlessly behind you — subtle motion that keeps videos alive.
Blur
Keep your real room but defocus it, portrait-mode style. The professional default for calls and talking heads.
8 studio presets
White, Black, Studio Gray, Green Screen, Sky, Sunset, Violet and Mint — designed to look good behind people.
Place yourself, too
Move, scale and rotate your cutout on the canvas, and ground it with a drop shadow or a colored outline ring.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I blur my video background instead of replacing it?
- Yes. Blur is a built-in background option alongside solid colors, your own images, looping background videos, and 8 studio presets.
- Can I replace the background of an existing video, or only while recording?
- Both. You can record with your camera and watch the background get replaced live, or import an existing clip from Files or your Photos library and replace its background afterwards.
- Do I need a green screen to use Background Eraser?
- No. Background Eraser uses on-device AI (Apple Vision person segmentation) to separate you from the background, so it works against any normal wall or room. A physical green screen is never required.
